Our History

In April of 2004, a group of Rockland County Firefighters, got together and expressed interest in the possibility of forming a Firefighters Pipe And Drum Band. Letters were sent out to each of the Fire Companies within Rockland County and meetings were held in relation to the forming of a Band. These meetings resulted in overwhelming support and interest for such and undertaking, and in July of 2004, The Rockland County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, Inc. were officially established.

The Bands core foundation is centered on the ability to provide a proper and honorable tribute to our fallen Brothers and Sisters, in the tragic event of a Line Of Duty Death. Rockland County was hit very hard due to the tragic and horrifying events of September 11th , 2001. We all witnessed the countless funerals and memorials for our brave rescue workers and innocent civilians, murdered on that senseless day. We were also moved and humbled, at the honorable and proper tributes made in their honor. The Bagpipes and Drums, have a long standing history within the Fire Service and the Rockland County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, are stepping up to that challenge and carrying on that respected tradition , in order to honor their own.
